What is The GM Card?
The GM Card is a no annual fee Visa* credit card with all the features and benefits †† of a Visa* card including:

What are GM Card Earnings?
The Cardholder earns 3% in GM Card Earnings on eligible purchases made with The GM Card. Earnings can be accumulated and applied †1 to the Total Purchase Price or lease down payment of any eligible new car, truck, SUV or van from Chevrolet, Pontiac, Buick, GMC, Saturn, HUMMER, Saab and Cadillac.

 

Is there a limit to the amount of GM Card Earnings a Cardholder can earn over a year?
One of the great things about The GM Card ® is that there is absolutely no limit to the amount of GM Card Earnings a Cardholder can earn over the course of a year. And that means you can accumulate GM Card Earnings as quickly as you want.

How will the Cardholder keep track of how many GM Card Earnings he/she has?
GM Card Monthly Billing statements provide all the information the Cardholder needs to track Earnings. In addition to showing the previous month's Visa * account balance, the statement also displays GM Card Earnings for the current period, and the new, up-to-date Total Earnings amount.

 

What are the Vehicle Redemption Allowances?
Redemption Allowances determine the maximum number of GM Card Earnings a Cardholder may redeem †1 on a particular make or model of a new eligible General Motors vehicle. For more information, take a look at the Allowances & Vehicles .

 

Is there a minimum redemption level?
No. No matter how much - or little - a Cardholder has accumulated, Cardholders can redeem their GM Card Earnings †1 towards an eligible new General Motors vehicle any time, once the Earnings have appeared on their billing statement.

Can Earnings be used for parts or service?
No, Earnings can only be redeemed †1 towards the Total Purchase Price or lease down payment of an eligible new General Motors vehicle.

 

Can GM Card Earnings be accumulated on purchases made outside Canada?
Yes. Purchases are converted to Canadian dollars, and Earnings are accumulated based on the Canadian dollar amount.

 

Can Earnings be transferred?
Primary Cardholders of the GM Card may transfer all or a portion of their GM Card Earnings to the following eligible immediate family members, who reside at the Primary Cardholder's residence: parents, partner, spouse, siblings and children. Primary GM Cardholders are also entitled to transfer a portion of their Earnings to immediate family members: parents, partner, spouse, siblings and children who do not reside at the Primary Cardholder's residence, provided that a minimum of $500 in Earnings is retained on the account after the transfer. Immediate family members may already be a GM Cardholder themselves, however transferred Earnings cannot be combined with the recipient's existing Earnings.

Can Earnings be pooled?
Earnings cannot be pooled with any other GM Card account. Only earnings associated with one GM Card account may be redeemed on each eligible GM vehicle. ††

Can Earnings be combined with other programs?
Earnings can be used in conjunction with other programs †1 (subject to Vehicle Redemption Allowances) such as Smart Purchase, SMARTLEASE™, the GM Mobility Program and the GM Student Bonus Program.

You accumulate 3% in GM Card Earnings on eligible GM Card purchases, with no annual limit on the amount of Earnings that can be accumulated. GM Card Earnings are not accumulated on fees, interest charges, optional services, Cash Advances (including Balance Transfers or Twin Cheques) rebates, refunds or other similar credits. Earnings may be used in addition to other offers General Motors of Canada Limited ("GMCL") may provide at the time of purchase. Earnings on your GM Card are subject to the Program Rules which are supplied to all new Cardholders with their GM Card. General Motors of Canada Limited reserves the right to change The GM Card Program Rules, restrictions or benefits with or without notice.

†1 Subject to Vehicle Redemption Allowances. There is a limit ("Redemption Allowance") on the amount of GM Card Earnings that may be applied at time of redemption. The Redemption Allowance is the maximum amount of GM Card Earnings that can be applied toward the Total Purchase Price or lease down payment of any new eligible General Motors vehicle. Fleet sales and commercial leases are excluded. Redemption Allowances vary up to $3500 depending upon the model year and brand of car or truck being purchased or leased.
