Power And Glory
Every Corvette V8 is a triumph of the engine-builder's art. That's especially true of the astounding new LS9 engine that powers the ZR1. Assembled by hand at GM's Performance Build Centre, this state-of-the-art supercharged V8 generates more power than the Dodge Viper SRT10 and Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano.** It's also the most powerful production engine in GM history.

Corvette's unique architecture – featuring hydroformed steel rails, cored composite floors and an enclosed centre tunnel – results in a strong, rigid body structure. Every Corvette model includes a precision-engineered short-throw 6-speed manual transmission as standard equipment. Corvette Coupe and Convertible also offer the choice of an available 6-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters conveniently mounted on the steering wheel hub.
Mean Green Machine
In May 2008, the Indianapolis 500 was paced by a Corvette Z06 with a difference. Instead of pure gasoline, it was running on E85, an alternative fuel that consists of just 15 percent gas blended with 85 percent ethanol.
