How do you improve on the truck that already defined the standard for its class? By adding more power, with the first V8 ever in the lineup: the 300 hp Vortec 5.3L V8 – in addition to the efficient 185 hp Vortec 2.9L four-cylinder and 239 hp Vortec 3.7L five-cylinder engines. Driver control is also enhanced, with the StabiliTrak™ electronic stability control system now standard on all models. The durability is improved by the bedliner that's now standard on all models except the Chassis Cab, and the look is bolder, thanks to new standard 16" wheels. Even your peace of mind is increased, with the knowledge that the advanced OnStar ® system is now also standard. Demand more from a mid-size truck. We already did. The 2009 Chevrolet Colorado.
No single engine can answer everyone's needs. That's why Colorado's lineup includes three engines. The highlight is the new available 300 hp Vortec 5.3L V8. And the standard 2.9L engine delivers excellent fuel efficiency: 8.4 L/100 km highway (34 mpg) and 11.5 L/100 km (25 mpg) city ratings.** The 3.7L I-5 is also available. The choice is yours.
Safe driving begins with comprehensive driver control. In Colorado, that is enhanced by a standard 4-wheel anti-lock braking system (ABS) and traction assist. For 2009, Colorado keeps you on track with the StabiliTrak electronic stability control system that's now standard. It intervenes automatically to counter the causes of understeer and oversteer. Take control – in Colorado.
If a collision proves unavoidable, Colorado's excellent occupant protection earned the highest U.S. government safety rating – five stars — for the driver and front passenger in the frontal crash test. † The newly standard OnStar system provides its own form of reassurance – it can direct emergency service providers to your exact location.
Colorado offers a choice of the standard Z85 Standard or the available Z71 Off-Road and ZQ8 Suspension systems. The Z71 package includes a torsion bar front suspension, higher ground clearance, 17" chrome-clad aluminum wheels, urethane jounce bumpers and monotube shock absorbers – the required automatic rear locking differential adds to the capabilities. But no road map is required.
