Body Options for Light-duty Trucks
These light-duty chassis cabs permit the installation of special use bodies and equipment such as wreckers, dumps, stake or van bodies, etc. Body length should not normally exceed 3.66m (12 feet) and the maximum body and payload weight should not be much more than 2250 kg (5000 lb.), depending on the model and GVWR selected. It is suggested that a weight distribution calculation be made with the assistance of your GM dealer or body supplier to ensure the vehicle's axle capacities and GVWR will not be exceeded.
Some of these chassis cabs are fundamentally pickups with the boxes deleted. This is a generally accepted industry practice, and the 3600 series are dedicated chassis-cab designs. They have a special 2 piece frame that overlaps forming a strong reinforcement. They provide Cab-to-Axle (C.A.) dimension of either 1521 mm (59.9 in.) or 2144 mm (84.4 in.) with 864 mm (34.0 in.) wide frame rails - all industry standards- to facilitate body installation.
