Great racing power at a reasonable cost.
(400 HP at 5500 RPM - Torque 400 @ 4500 RPM)

This is a factory sealed crate engine package, complete from intake manifold, stamped steel valve covers with racing style breathers, and 8-quart dual kick-out circle track racing oil pan. The Fast Burn 400 engine is a great value with the 1053 forged steel crankshaft, aluminum heads with 2.00-/1.55-inch valves, hydraulic roller lifters, HEI distributor, and normal rotation iron water pump included.

The base engine is a Fast Burn 350ci 385 horsepower, with the following parts:
P/N 10105123 4 bolt iron block
P/N 14088533 1053 steel crankshaft
P/N 10108688 PM rod
P/N 10159436 High silicon aluminum piston
P/N 10185071 Camshaft with hydraulic roller lifters
P/N 12464298 Aluminum head
P/N 12496822 High rise single plane intake manifold
P/N 1104067 HEI distributor
P/N 25534354 8 quart circle track oil pan (with oil filter)
P/N 25534359 Valve cover kit with breather tube
P/N 25534355 Valve cover breather kit
P/N 25534352 Special rocker arm nut "kool nut design"

Technical Note: These engines are sealed at the intake manifold, cylinder head, front cover, and oil pan with special twist off bolt heads. The 400 HP @ 5500 RPM was derived from a superflow dyno using a 4 barrel 650 cfm Holley carburetor P/N 80541-1, 32-inch long by 1-5/8-inch to a 1-3/4-inch stepped header with a 3" collector, and 92 octane unleaded gasoline. Oil pan clears most GM rear steer chassis with stock engine location. Oil pan is 7" deep at sump.

ZZ454/440 440 HORSEPOWER WITH ALUMINUM HEADS - 12498777

Enlarge Photo

The ZZ454/440 offers tremendous value in a big-block crate engine. Based on the proven 454 HO with its Gen VI 454 block, the addition of GM Performance Parts Signature series aluminum heads reduces weight and increases horsepower to 440, up from the 454 HO's 425.

The ZZ454 shares its forged crankshaft and connecting rods with GMPP's 454 HO and the family of famous 502 crate engines, so you know it's strong. Forged pistons fill the block, and a steel roller camshaft times the valves. Complete with dual plane intake manifold, water pump, torsional damper and automatic transmission flexplate, the ZZ454 is one value packed big-block crate engine.

With its throttle responsive 9.6 to 1 compression ratio, the gas-pump friendly ZZ454 is a great choice for muscle cars, bracket racers and off-road truckers. Just add your 850 CFM carb, GM HEI distributor, and 2-1/4-inch primary headers and you're ready to rip.

The ZZ454/440 is intended for use in 1978 and earlier pre-emission street vehicles, and any year off-road vehicles.

ZZ572/720R EXCLUSIVELY FOR RACERS — 12498827

Enlarge Photo

Engineered by GM Performance Parts and GM Racing exclusively for sportsman racers, the new ZZ572/720R is built around an all-new Gen VI tall deck Bow Tie cylinder block. This all-new race block is filled with a forged 4340 steel crank with 4.375 inch stroke, shot peened forged 4340 H-beam rods, and forged aluminum pistons with full floating wrist pins. Plasma-moly piston rings are standard as is the screened and louvred windage tray. GM's first purpose-built drag race engine is filled with hard core race parts for hard core performance and long term durability.

The redesigned rectangular port aluminum cylinder heads result in a race gas only 12 to 1 compression ratio. A solid roller cam with 0.714 inch lift actuates the stainless steel valves. And, of course, hardened chromemoly retainers, roller rocker arms, and dual valve springs are used to complete the valve train.

A new GM tall deck single plane intake manifold and 1095 CFM King Demon carburetor deliver enough air and fuel to make the 720 horsepower at 6250 RPM and 685 lb.-ft. of torque at 4500 RPM. Ignition is handled by a multiple spark discharge ignition. And an SFI-approved torsional damper is installed at the factory. Out of the crate and into your race car — it's just that simple.

Race gas fuelled, high revving horsepower, all from GM, the ZZ572/720R is the engine that will get you down the track consistently, pass after pass, season after season
Available in short block, long block and deluxe engine configurations in 2003.
