Windsor Transmission Plants joint health and wellness committee acts as one team The Windsor Transmission Plant’s Joint Health and Wellness Committee is comprised of four salaried employees and three CAW-represented employees. Together they work towards helping employees make positive lifestyle changes and promote better health.
During the first quarter of 2006, the health and wellness committee decided to coordinate a health fair at the plant. Working with local agencies and organizations (i.e. naturopathic doctors, massage therapist, nutritionists, local health unit, United Way, etc.) the plant showcased healthy living exhibits on March 8, 2006 . March 8th is recognized as International Women’s Day. In an effort to recognize the women at the Windsor Transmission plant, the committee also decided to raise money for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation in conjunction with the health fair. The joint health and wellness committee recognized the need to reduce costs at the plant so they came up with a smart idea to fundraise. Working with KitchenAid, the committee arranged for KitchenAid to donate a pink “Cook For The Cure” artisan stand-up mixer (valued at $319.99) to raffle off. The committee helped to raise an outstanding $1,200 for the Canadian Cancer Foundation. Windsor ’s joint health and wellness team, compromised of both salaried and CAW employees, continues to exhibit GM’s cultural priority to act as one team. In addition, they have won the Windsor-Essex County and Windsor Health Action gold award for three consecutive years. |
