GM has more fuel-efficient cars and trucks in Canada than any other automaker. We've stayed ahead with a continued pledge to the environment, combined with our drive to produce the best cars. So green isn't just a thought, it's built right into our design.

In Canada, GM offers more vehicles with 7L/100km, or better, highway fuel consumption than any other manufacturer.
Since the 1970s, GM's innovations have reduced smog-forming emissions by 99%. Today, you would produce more emissions by painting a room with a can of water-based paint than by driving a GM SUV from Toronto to Vancouver and back.

GM has formed a relationship with The Clean Air Foundation to provide Car Heaven - a program that offers $1,000 toward your next GM vehicle when you dispose of your old vehicle in an ecological way.

Active Fuel Management
GM has a fuel-saving technology that enables the engine to automatically and seamlessly operate on only half the engine's cylinders when fuel power is not needed.
During most normal driving conditions, when loads are light, this feature reduces fuel consumption by up to 12%. In Canada, you'll get this fuel-saver on a number of the best-selling GM cars and trucks including:

At GM, we have many types of hybrids on the road, and even more in development.
At $30,000, the Saturn VUE Green Line Hybrid is the most affordable SUV hybrid in the market.

"Project Driveway" is GM's commitment to building the largest fleet of hydrogen-fuel-cell vehicles in Canada. GM's engineering centre plays a key role in producing over 100 Chevrolet Equinox Hydrogen Fuel Cell vehicles.

Tomorrow's automobile will need flexibility in order to handle different energy sources. GM's commitment to building electric cars and trucks will help improve energy diversity and minimize effects on the environment. GM's E-Flex system brings together today's green technologies, sparking an evolution of transportation technology.

GM encourages you to try a new class of gasoline that keeps your engine cleaner, provides optimal fuel efficiency, and reduces emissions. This enhanced detergency has no metallic additives to damage vehicle emission control components. Chevron Canada was the first to offer TOP TIER Detergent Gasoline in Canada. Shell Canada, Petro-Canada and Sunoco now sell this cleaner alternative on a national level.

This green innovation is derived from grain-based crops and has the future potential to displace petroleum-based fuel in Canada. With over two million Ethanol FlexFuel vehicles on the road in North America, GM is an industry leader in this alternative fuel technology.
Today, there are 15 GM car and truck models available with FlexFuel systems. They can run on fuel containing up to 85% ethanol (E85) or regular gasoline. The Chevrolet Impala, when running on E85 Canadian made cellulose-based ethanol, has significantly lower lifecycle C02 emissions than any other vehicle sold in Canada.
